Head, Heart, Hands, Health – In the Barn
Presented by Allie Jo Wittman
4-H Alumni, Former Swine Exhibitor, Meat Processing Specialist
Roskom Meats Harvesting & Processing Department
In this session, youth will learn why caring for market animals matters – not just how to do it. Guided by 4-H alumni, participants will explore how daily decisions in the barn affect animal well-being, meat quality, and consumer trust. Youth will connect the Head (making informed choices), Heath (respect and responsibility for their animal), Hands (proper care and handling), and Health (animal, producer, and consumer) to understand how raising a quality animal impacts the entire journey from barn to plate.
Event Location
Calumet County Courthouse, Room 025
